The Catholic Committee on Scouting for
the Diocese of Rockville Centre

Suffolk County Council
Updated: Monday, July 14, 2014

Suffolk County Council's CCOS is always working to offer Boy Scouts and Venturers the finer points of the 12th Point of the Scout Law

A Scout is Reverent

Every week at Baiting Hollow Scout Camp the Catholic Committee teams up with Deacon Volunteers to offer a Friday Night prayer service.  We offer Scouts who attend a moment to reflect on the value of having a relationship with the Lord Jesus and His Church.  Many Deacons come out to assist and we thank them for their faithful service.

We encourage Catholic Scouters to offer the Religious Emblem program to their Scouts.  If you would like to learn more about the Religious Emblems of the Catholic Faith, there are some fact sheets below and on our general information page.  Any other questions can be directed to the District Representatives or Suffolk Area Chair Teresa da Luz at her email:

Religious Emblem Counselors for the Boy Scouts Catholic Emblems need to be trained.  We are offering several opportunities that will give Religious Emblem Counselors support and knowledge.  Whether you are an old hand or just getting started with your first class, come meet us on one of the following dates
  • Wednesday, August 20th
  • Thursday, September 18
  • Wednesday, October 15
We want you to succeed.  Please contact the committee to register.  More details available on the flyer.

Finally, we are proud to publish the Suffolk County Council CCOS Annual Calendar, available here.  We have put together a lot of thought of upcoming events and welcome Catholic Scouts and Scouters to participate.

The Committee is especially excited about the Diocesan Boy Scout Retreat being held this October 3-5 at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington.  Here is more information and registration, please consider joining us for a fun and prayful experience as we explore the theme: The Trail to Sainthood.

Please click here for the Order Form for the Religious Emblems for Cub Scouts.  The Religious Emblems are only available through the Diocesan Scouting Office.
